The lord be with you. A reading of the holy gospel according to Saint John. Showed himself to the disciples once again at the Sea Of Tiberias. Now we're up in the North, up by the lake. And this is how this appearance took place.
Assembled were Simon Peter, Thomas the twin, Nathaniel from Cana in Galilee, Zebedee's sons, and two other disciples. Simon Peter said to them, I'm going fishing. The other said, we'll go along with you. And off they went and got into their boat. Now, these men these men were watermen.
These men were fishermen. They knew the lake. They knew how to fish. Keep that in mind. Jesus came from Nazareth.
He he came from an inland. He didn't know anything about the lake and being a fisherman and a waterman. Keep that in mind. So, they said, we'll go along with you. And they all went and got into the boat.
All through the night, they labored and caught nothing. Just after daybreak, Jesus was standing on the shore. However, none of the disciples recognized Jesus. Now, that's the input. They didn't know it was Jesus.
Only they saw a man there. And he said to them, children, have you anything to eat? Not a thing, they answered. Cast your net off to the right side, he suggested, and you will find something. So, they made the cast and took in so many fish that they could scarcely haul the net in.
Then the disciple that Jesus loved, that's John, cried out to Peter, it's the Lord. Hearing it was the Lord, Simon Peter threw on some clothes because he was naked and jumped into the water. You could depend on him doing something crazy. Meanwhile, the other disciples came into the boat in the boat and towing the net full of fish. Actually, they weren't far from land, no more than a 100 yards.
Well, that's the length of a football field. Peter jumps in there with his clothes on. So when they landed, they saw a charcoal fire with a fish laid on it and some bread. Bring some of the fish you've caught, Jesus said. Simon Peter went aboard and hauled ashore the net loaded with sizable fish, 153 of them.
In spite of the great number, the net was not broken. And then Jesus said to them, come and eat your meal. Not one of the disciples presumed to ask, who are you? For they knew it was the Lord. Jesus came over, took the bread, and gave it to them.
And then he did the same thing with the fish. This marked the third time that Jesus appeared to the disciples after being raised up from the dead. And this is the gospel, the good news of the Lord.
